STRAIGHT

I am interrogated.

Being picked up by the police or invited by them for questioning can be quite overwhelming. You are often unaware of an ongoing investigation against you until you are invited for questioning.

However, it should be emphasized that everything you say during a hearing is recorded in a report and can later be used as evidence in any criminal proceedings. It cannot therefore be stressed enough that it is always in your best interest to have professional assistance during a police interview.

SUPRALAT Salduz

Mr. De Decker and Mr. Peeters of Frontline Lawyers both followed the SUPRALAT Salduz training and have been assisting suspects during their first or subsequent interrogation for several years. Together with you, they go over your situation and explain in detail what rights you have when the police interrogate you. Also during the interrogation itself, they see to it that everything goes according to the rules and that your version of the facts is correctly recorded in a structured statement, because remember: "everything you say can and will be used against you"!

So play it safe and always have the assistance of a lawyer when you find yourself in a police station.

Pro bono assistance

At Frontline Lawyers, we believe that everyone should have access to adequate legal assistance. If you do not have the financial means to pay for a lawyer, you can use second-line legal assistance under certain conditions.

However, in order for the Frontline Lawyers team to work for you free of charge, a decision from the Legal Aid Office is required. To do so, you must provide information about the income of yourself and your family members. Frontline Lawyers will be happy to guide you through this application in this case.[1]
